In an issue of Der Rebus, the South African Attorneys' Journal published monthly by the Law Society of South Africa contains a copywrited article by Andrew Marshall about software defect liability. Called When software causes damage the article points out that since all software has errors determining liability can be a challenge for a lawyer. Marshall examines the software life cycle and the points in the cycle where damages are easiest of prove and concludes critical and expert software should be held to a higher standard than entertainment packages or general purpose tools.

Size of Outsourced Testing Market

According to The Black Book of Outsourcing, the software testing market was estimated to be $13 billion in 2007. The offshore outsourced portion was over $8 Billion. Forecasters predict industry growth will continue in double digits through 2010. Outsourced software testing is among the hottest trends in outsourcing.
